Read Full Artist BiographyMichael Upton (1938-2002) ▴ Michael Upton (1938-2002) 'Newlyn Harbour', 1999 signed 'Michael Upton', inscribed with title and dated 1999 on label verso, oil over printed ordnance survey map on board 73 x 91cm Born in Birmingham in 1938, Michael Upton trained at the Birmingham College of Art and the Royal Academy, graduating from the latter in 1962. Upton's early work comprised of a series of performances and installations which he undertook in collaboration with fellow artist Peter Lloyd-Jones. However, as Upton grew older, he dedicated his efforts toward painting, utilising a pastel-heavy palette to capture both rural and urban landscapes. Upton was successful in his lifetime, receiving solo exhibitions in London and New York, whilst also having his work displayed as part of group exhibitions at prestigious venues such as London's Hayward Gallery and the National Museum in Madrid. Condition Report: Framed size: 87.2 x 105cm Unexamined out of glazed frame, appears to be in good condition.

Well-presented.
