    Two separate horse subjects by Urushibara Mokuchu, presented in a paired layout, each contained within an individual horizontal composition on textured paper panels. The top composition isolates a single equine figure depicted from a rear perspective with its head lowered toward the ground plane. The bottom composition displays a single profile view of a standing equine figure with its head slightly raised. Both subjects feature minimalist black line contours combined with broad, monochromatic gray wash tones to define physical mass. A single, solid square signature seal block is stamped in red pigment within the lower corner of each image field. Sight site: 14 x 10.5 inches. Dimensions: 21.5W x 15H IN Weight: 3.6 OZ

He travelled to London and was among a group of woodblock print craftsmen who demonstrated printing techniques at the Japan-British Exhibition (日英博覧会, Nichi-Ei Hakuran-kai), which took place at White City, London, from 14 May 1910 to 29 October 1910. He remained in London after the exhibition, restoring prints, making reproductions of prints, and mounting scrolls at the British Museum. In 1912, the British Museum employed Urushibara to make accurate copies of a famous Chinese scroll painting by Gu Kaizhi (c. 344–406 AD), the Admonitions Scroll. Another closely comparable print is in the collection of the British Museum, registration number: 2003,0820,0.6, which has been exhibited in the British Museum Japanese Galleries, 'Japan from Prehistory to the Present' during 2015 April-October.
