(4)-X-138-(1)-63-(1) pp., 26 vues gravées en noir dont une dépliante, un portrait équestre et 2 vignettes en manière noire et une grande carte dépliante gravée. Demi-veau fauve à coins postérieur fait à l'imitation, dos lisse orné de triple filets dorés, pièce de titre de maroquin rouge ancienne reprise sur une probable reliure d'origine avec titre doré et datée 1805, plats de papier moucheté. Premier tirage sur beau papier fort, à grandes marges. Ouvrage de référence sur les campagnes napoléoniennes (opérations de l'Armée d'Orient et l'Armée d'Italie jusque'à la paix de Prestbourg) magnifiquement imprimé notamment par Didot, orné de grandes eaux-fortes en noir d'après les dessins fait sur les lieux des événements par Carle Vernet et exécutées principalement par Duplessi-Bertaux. Typique des vues topographiques de campagne, il constitue pour partie le pendant du Bagetti, publié un peu plus tard au XIXe, dans les ouvrages gravés sur la Campagne d'Italie. Selon Barbier, le texte pourrait être de Pierre-Auguste-Marie Miger. Complet du grand portrait équestre Napoléon Le Grand gravé par Simon d'après Vernet, de la carte d'Italie dépliante et des portraits en tondo de l'Empereur et Joséphine, en manière noire. Grand bandeau gravé par Roger, La France reconnaissante, proclame Napoléon Ier empereur des Français. Comprend, dans la pagination : Précis historique de l'Expédition d'Egypte, pp. (1)-122-127 et Cérémonies du Sacre et du couronnement de sa majesté impériale Napoléon-Le-Grand / Fête qui ont lieu à Paris le II frimaire An XIII. (2)-pp.130-138 Suivi de : Précis historique de la campagne d'Allemagne avec les Bulletins grande armée (1)-63-(1) pp. avec une gravure dépliante, Bataille d'Austerlitz.1805, gravée par Bosq d'après Vernet. La Carte d'Italie pour servir à l'Histoire des Campagnes de Napoléon le Grand Empereur des Français et Roi d'Italie. Par Lorrain, ingénieur géographe, exécutée par Louvet et Dien, est finement mise en coloris aux bordures et frontières. Ex libris ancien à la plume (première garde), daté de 1851, peut-être en autrichien ou apparait le nom d'Alois Hauptmann et une mention du « Carolino Augusteum » aujourd'hui le musée de Salzbourg. Ce délicat dessin offre un aspect plus intime de son œuvre, puisqu’il représente le portrait de Louise Pujol, qui épouse son fils le peintre Horace Vernet (1789-1863) en 1811. Elle est ici figurée dans un paysage vallonné près d’un ruisseau soigneusement réalisé à l’aquarelle. This portrait of a young military man masterfully embodies the technical virtuosity and compositional elegance characteristic of Carle Vernet, who specialized in equestrian subjects and military portraiture. The bust has been rendered with almost miniaturist precision. The haughty bearing and the subtle nuances of the facial expression convey gallantry and nobility. It is an almost adolescent countenance, with an incipient mustache and flaming cheeks whose blush contrasts with the alabastrine complexion. He directs his blue eyes towards an undefined point outside the painting, which gives the scene an atmosphere of introspection and expectation. The light, wisely directed, models the face with softness, emphasizing the smoothness of the skin and the moist glow of the eyes, achieving a sense of almost theatrical immediacy. The uniform is rich in detail: the high collar, adorned with embroidery and scarlet piping, as well as the golden epaulettes, reveal the character's rank, possibly a young officer of some elite guard. The dark, neutral background is typical of the academic portraiture of the first third of the 19th century and allows the figure to emerge with all its expressive force, without any distraction. Carle Vernet, heir to an illustrious dynasty of painters, stands out for his ability to combine academic rigor with a romantic sensibility. Antoine-Charles-Joseph Vernet, better known as Carle Vernet, studied with his father, the painter Claude Joseph Vernet, and with Nicolas-Bernard Lépicié. He won the Prix de Rome and, between 1782 and 1783, he was a scholar at the Mancini Palace. In 1789, thanks to his work Triumph of Paul Émile, he was attached to the Royal Academy in Paris, where he exhibited regularly. His first specialties were paintings of hunting, horses and equestrian portraits: The Duke of Orleans (1788, Condé Museum, Chantilly), The Duke of Chartres (1788, Historical Society, New York). During the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte he painted great battle paintings, such as The Battle of Marengo and Morning at Austerlitz (1808), or the Bombardment of Madrid and the Taking of Pamplona (1824), all at the Palace of Versailles. After the Bourbon Restoration he was painter to Louis XVIII,[2] for whom he painted mainly hunting and racing pictures: Race of the barbels (1826, Musée d'Avignon), Fallow deer hunting on St. Hubert's Day, in 1818, in the woods of Meudon (1827, Musée du Louvre, Paris). His son Horace Vernet was also a painter. Among his pupils was Théodore Géricault. He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and a knight of the Legion of Honor.

Carle Vernet, attr., Einrückende Soldaten in eine Festungsanlage einziehendes französisches Regiment zu Pferd, im Hintergrund See mit Gebirgskette, teils mit feinem Pinsel ausgeführte Malerei, Öl auf Holztafel, Anfang 19. Jh., rückseitig in Tinte Zuschreibung "Carle Vernet 18...", Holztafel etwas gewölbt, inaktiver Holzwurmbefall an Maltafel und Rahmen, Retuschen, im vergoldeten, gekehlten Rahmen, Falzmaße ca. 17,5 x 23 cm. Künstlerinfo: eigentlich Antoine Charles Horace Vernet, Maler und Lithograph (1758 Bordeaux bis 1836 Paris), zeichnete bereits als fünfjähriger leidenschaftlich Pferde, Schüler seines Vaters und von Nicolas-Bernard Lépicié, Reise nach Italien, betätigte sich auch als Schlachtenmaler, König Ludwig XVIII. von Frankreich verlieh ihm den Orden des Heiligen Michael, Quelle: Thieme-Becker und Wikipedia. Carle Vernet (1758-1836) Italian Horse Racing Lithograph - Blind Stamped Carle Vernet was a renowned Painter and Lithographer of French and Italian Racing Scenes.... representing his exceptional talent of painting horses in Movement and the Spectators around a course. Vernet..... after his sister was Killed by the Guillotine during the French Revolution.. Vernet began to produce under the French Directory (1795–1799), his style had changed radically. He started drawing in minute detail battles and campaigns to glorify Napoleon. His drawings of Napoleon's Italian campaign won acclaim as did the Battle of Marengo, and for his Morning of Austerlitz Napoleon awarded him the Legion of Honour, and Louis XVIII of France awarded him the Order of Saint Michael. This Lithograph has the French Art Blind Stamp and is a genuine piece. Our vendor bought this in France and payed a bomb for it.... but its now downsize time and its here to sell. It is Gallery framed and the frame measures 112cm by 82cm high. Its in excellent condition
