The unmistakable style of Jesús Villar reflects what the artist himself calls "universal peasant", that prototype of man who can be found in the lands of León, Andalusia or any part of Spain, as well as in the fields of Naples. It is a type of character characterised by his clothing, features and features, all of which create perfectly individualised portraits depicting the types of fishermen in the port, processions, pilgrimages, country lunches and picnics, bullfighters, and so on. In short, genre or genre paintings that do not fail to reflect their rough and traditional character, becoming psychological portraits that awaken great solemnity in those who observe them. Jesús Villar has lived and painted in numerous cities and towns in Spain, including the two Castillas, Andalusia, Santander and Vizcaya; however, Villar's travelling nature has led him to cross the Spanish borders and live in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and even Venezuela. His work can currently be found in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (Madrid), in Biarritz (France), in Barcelona, in Oslo (Norway), in the Rodríguez Acosta Foundation (Granada), as well as in the World's Fair Pavilion in New York (United States).
