Born in Zwettl in 1940, the daughter of a teacher, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1960 to 1966 under Maximilian Melcher and Rudolf Hausner. From 1970 onward, she participated in exhibitions of the Vienna Secession, and from 1975 she worked as a freelance artist in the Waldviertel region. She also taught as a guest lecturer at the HTL (Higher Technical Institute) and from 1980 onward created large-format wall objects and prints. Waber paints intensely colored acrylic surfaces, structural reliefs, and mixed-media compositions with dynamic gestures, material presence, and abstract emotionality, influenced by Viennese Actionism, Lyrical Informel, and the landscape structure of the Waldviertel region.
