Biography

American artist Wayne Thiebaud briefly worked for Walt Disney studios as an animator and wrote a comic strip while in the Air Force. In 1956, he moved to New York where his interests shifted, and Wayne Thiebaud's paintings reflected the influence of the Abstract Expressionist art movement of the time. Wayne Thiebaud's abstract paintings focused on light and shadow, distinct edges, and the eclectic patterns he created using richly pigmented oil paints.

Wayne Thiebaud's art for sale includes earlier whimsical paintings he did of children’s toys, gumball machines, and jukeboxes. Cityscapes, emboldened landscapes, and the hills of San Francisco became the primary focus of Wayne Thiebaud's abstract paintings when he settled there in 1972.
