Author: Gervase Wheeler - Gervase Wheeler (1815-1889) was a British architect who designed homes in the United States. Wheeler moved to the U.S. in the 1846 or 1847 and stayed until the 1860s, when he returned to London. Wheeler's father, who was also named Gervase, worked as a manufacturer of gold, silver and gilt jewelry in Holborn, then just outside London.

Condition / Notes: This half leather volume has a detached front board. The spine has stamped gilt lettering and ruling. The marbled boards display rubbing and scuffing at the edges, with heavier rubbing to the spine cover. Minor loss appears at the corners of the boards. An antique paper label can be seen at the top of the spine cover. The text block has speckled edges. The antique bookplate of The Wadsworth Library of Geneseo, New York is affixed to the front pastedown; library attachments appear on the rear endpaper. The title page has a blind stamp.The pages exhibit modest foxing. This work is illustrated with plates and textual illustrations.
