Early 19th C. Mahogany case. Made in Boston. Brass eagle finial. Painted metal dial, probably original. Reverse painted panel on throat with eagle and urn design. Flanked by mahogany spandrels. Bottom section has reverse painted tablet depicting the battle between the USS CONSTITUTION and the British warship HMS GUERRIERE. This is celebrating a great victory for the American Navy. Key, pendulum and weight are present. 32" high with finial x 10 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" deep. Comes with a bill of sale dated March 19, 1963 for $290. Provenance: From the estate of Alfred J. Walker, legendary art dealer and collector. Founder of Walker-Cunningham Fine Art. Good condition, but not guaranteed to work. Finial probably a later replacement. AARON WILLARD, JR. BOSTON TALL CASE CLOCK W/ ALARM COMPLICATION An exceptionally fine and extremely rare antique clock featuring a sophisticated alarm clock complication. Carved fretwork crest with three brass finials. The central door is flanked by two carved and rope-turned columns. The throat has a figured mahogany door flanked on either side by rope-turned quarter-columns with carved acanthus leaf tops. The base has applied a Hepplewhite French foot. Rocking ship movement, 8 day time and strike w/ seconds, alarm complication w/ original weights and pendulum. 8'4" tall, 19" wide, 10" deep. The old French polish surface is fine overall, with minor flaking to the painted dial. From the estate of Linda Bean.

The interior paper shop label is an authentic, identified Paul Revere print. Clock is all original (except for nicely refinished case) and in good working order. Strikes on the hour. Feet, bonnet fretwork & glass, brass hardware also original. Has Boston can weights, original winding key (rare), door key and pendulum. Slight warp to door but will still lock. Finials on fluted plinths joined by nicely scrolled fretwork. Arched dial door with ebony and string inlay flanked by fluted full columns with brass stop fluting. Molded rectangular pendulum door flanked by brass-capped fluted quarter columns with brass stop fluting. Pendulum door and base panel with banded and string inlay. Ogee bracket feet. Roman numeral dial with second sweep and moon phase in lunette. Painted and gilt decoration of globes below lunette and green stars within ovals at corners. Signed "Aaron Willard Boston". Complete with weights, pendulum, and case and winding keys. Height 92.5". Width 19". Depth 9.5".
