        Mine Contract: This 1906 contract is between the owner George Williams and George Abel to sink a shaft into the Gold Northern Mine at $12.50 a foot. George's father Warren was the owner and president. Three handwritten, legal sized papers. Signed by vice president George Williams and George Abel. Ranching Correspondence. c1908-1915. Lot of 21. Includes correspondence from ranches at Clan Alpine, Alpine, Eastgate of Churchill County. The Argenta Ranch in Pershing County, the Hot Creek Ranch in Lander County, the Gold Creek Ranch in Elko County, etc. Includes a teamster note from Watts Station, via Battle Mountain. Watts Station was a stage stop in the 1870's and also a ten-car siding on the Nevada Central Railroad. Also known as Hot Springs. Art Keddie at Gold Ranch is looking to sell some sheep. "Plenty of sheep on the 25 Ranch range," says another. The Beowawe Ranch reports on grain and hay. The Holland Ranch is short on mower extras. The Horseshoe Ranch is willing to sell its scrappers (ditch digging tool), barrows, etc to Williams. The North Fork Ranch in Elko County reports the tractor has been doing fine. A great Eastgate letterhead. There is a time sheet from the Alpine Ranch for ranch hands and sheep herders, cooks and hay men, etc.. Etc. Notes on some of the ranches. Tract Purchases: Nearly 100 pieces of paper pertaining to purchasing lots in the Williams Tract at Fallon, Nevada. Warren Williams was the founder of Fallon, the Nevada Senator how pushed through making it the county seat, getting the Southern Pacific to build a branch line to Fallon, was one of two major general merchants, and donated much of the land for municipal use. People buying land included George Willcutt Board of Directors for the South San Francisco Railroad, A Griffin, SP RR employee, Y Nobata a cook at a Susanville hotel, WJ Nimmer proprietor of the Golden Eagle Hotel in Sparks, William Black editor of the Churchill Standard, George Lofthouse who ran a saloon, James Young farmer, Thomas Means project engineer on the Truckee-Carson Project, Callie Ferguson of Black & Ferguson stationary store (with billhead), etc..
