The composition features finely textured aquatic foliage, fish forms, and gracefully modeled otters with a dark brown and green patinated finish. Demonstrating the artists celebrated focus on wildlife subjects, the work combines naturalistic detail with a dynamic sense of movement. All hand-signed and titled in pencil beneath plate. Two numbered beneath plate. A trio of intimate intaglio vignettes by Western American artist Hollis Williford, each one rendered in a confident, lyrical line that captures the rhythm of wilderness and pursuit. "North Canoe" carries the quiet poetry of the boundary waters: a lone paddler glides past a tangled stand of conifers, the dark water rippling outward in patient hatched strokes while a distant treeline dissolves into mist. "Tundra Parade" widens the horizon, casting the viewer above a sweeping subarctic valley as a column of caribou threads single file along a ridgeline, antlers raised against a vast etched expanse of braided rivers and low hills. "Easy Double" turns from contemplation to action: two pheasants burst from cover in a flurry of beating wings while, below, a hunter shoulders his shotgun in the grasses, the moment caught at the taut instant before the report. Williford's etched line is wiry and economical, weighted toward the foreground and feathering off toward open paper at the horizon, a draftsman's discipline carried into the acid bath. Together the three plates form a small triptych of American outdoor life... the working canoe, the migratory herd, the upland shot... drawn with the same eye that produced his monumental bronzes. Each impression is pencil-signed and titled below the platemark; "Tundra Parade" is numbered 70/100, "Easy Double" 10/200, and "North Canoe" appears outside the numbered edition. He excelled in drawing, sculpting, painting and etching, and his work earned him esteem among collectors and institutions alike. Hollis Williford is known for Sculpture, landscape and frontier figure painting. A native of Texas who settled in Loveland, Colorado, Hollis Williford became a sculptor and painter of western figures. He began his study at the University of Texas at Arlington and finished with a degree from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He worked for a brief period as a freelance illustrator and then moved to Colorado to dedicate himself to easel painting, charcoal drawing and bronze sculpture. Twice he won the Prix de West competition, and his 12-foot bronze, Welcome Sundown, is permanently featured at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. His paintings and sculptures are in numerous other collections including the Thomas Gilcrease Museum, Genesee County Museum, Lacross Hall of Fame, Middlebury College, Whitney Gallery of Western Art, Denver Art Museum, and the Vail, Colorado Public Library. Hollis Randall Williford passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at the age of 66.

He began his study at the University of Texas at Arlington and finished with a degree from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. The artwork shows the pieces title along the bottom border of the pen and ink art. The art is of a bird with wings spread on a fallen down log. The condition of this framed ink and pen artwork is good, showing no obvious signs of damage to the artwork or to the professionally crafted frame. The measurements of this framed pen and ink style artwork are 14 1/2" x 17 1/4" and the visible art measures 6 7/8" x 10 1/8".
