          SU Xinping. Nuées (1995). Lithographie en noir. 苏蜪讔  瀄 Né en 1960 à Jining, en Mongolie intérieure, Su Xinping est diplômé du département de gravure de l’Institut central des Beaux-Arts de Pékin où il obtient une maîtrise puis y devient enseignant, après avoir commencé son activité à Tianjin. Il est depuis 1986 en charge de l’atelier de lithographie, et, depuis 2002, Directeur de ce Département . Il réalise durant les années 80 des gravures sur bois en noir ou tirées en couleurs à l’eau. Ce sont des personnages dans un univers agricole. Ils rappellent par leur réalisme les mots d’ordre prônés par les tenants d’une iconographie officielle qui soulignent l’importance de la campagne dans la vie de tous, notamment des citadins. L’enseignement des maîtres, Li Hua, Wang Qi, Wu Biduan, professeurs eux aussi, est encore très présent à travers les premières œuvres. Le réalisme formel prôné par l’enseignement officiel rappelle orthodoxie de l’art au service du peuple, selon les directives énoncées à Yan’an par le président Mao Zedong en 1942. Assez vite, pourtant, les brumes idéologiques se dissipent, pour faire place à un langage plus personnel. Il représente des personnages souvent seuls, des animaux ou des paysages épurés. De nombreuses esquisses, études souvent faites sur le vif, à la mine de plomb, précèdent les acryliques ou aboutissent à des lithographies. Depuis 2001, il se concentre sur des dessins de grand format.
