    “Still life is one of my favorite subjects, and I am always fascinated by the inter-relationship of various shapes and colours. They are simply beauties of silence.” — Chin Kon Yit Chin Kon Yit had produced a series of oil paintings based on still life. Graceful forms of the plant complement the sinuous drapery folds in the background. It is a bold palette, using a high contrast of complementary colours inclusive of green and red. Chin Kon Yit is one of Malaysia's eminent watercolour artists. He is largely a self-taught artist. However, his talents in art and natural skills and determination won him a prominent position in a leading advertising agency, and he worked in this field for 15 years. In his spare time, he pursued his own interests in fine art, painting street-life and architectural subjects. In 1991, he became a full-time artist. Kon Yit's work has been shown in ten solo exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, and numerous joint exhibitions both locally and internationally. His paintings are widely collected by private and corporate collectors. His book titled Landmarks Of Malaysia: 360 Paintings by Chin Kon Yit, is an impressive collection of 360 landmarks from every states in the country. He has created several books documenting the architecture of Malaysia. In 1998, he made the Kuala Lumpur Sketchbook, followed by Penang Sketchbook (2001), Landmarks Of Selangor (2003) and Landmarks Of Perak (2006).
