Edmond Charles Joseph Yon (Paris, 1841-1897) Un canal en Bretagne Original canvas (Alexis Ottoz) Signed on the bottom right 'Edmond Yon' H 40XL 62,5cm Edmond Charles Joseph Yon exhibited at the Salon de Paris, and at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1865. He received the title of chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1886. He contributed to artistic journals and made wood engravings after Brion's drawings illustrating Les Misérables and Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo. Edmond Charles Joseph Yon (Paris, 1841-1897) Un canal en Bretagne Toile d'origine (Alexis Ottoz) Signée en bas à droite ‘Edmond Yon' H 40×L 62,5cm Edmond Charles Joseph Yon expose au Salon de Paris puis au Salon des Artistes Francais à partir de 1865. Il est promu chevalier de la Légion d'honneur en 1886. Il collabore à des revues artistiques et réalise les gravures sur bois d'après les dessins de Brion pour les illustrations des Misérables et de Notre-Dame de Paris de Victor Hugo.

(1841 Paris - 1897 ebenda) Nordfranzösische Landschaft mit Gehöft und Windmühlen Mit schnellem, lockerem Duktus gemalte Landschaftsimpression Yons, der 1865 im Salon debütierte. Von der Schule von Barbizon (u. a. Corot und Millet) beeinflusst, malte Yon vornehmlich Landschaften aus dem Pariser Umland und die Flussufer der Seine, Oise, Marne und Bièvre. Für seine Werke erhielt er 1875, 1879 und 1889 Goldmedaillen auf dem Pariser Salon sowie auch eine Goldmedaille auf der Weltausstellung 1889. 1886 wurde er zum Ritter der Ehrenlegion ernannt. Edmond Charles Joseph Yon (France, 1836 - 1897) Edmond Yon was a French painter known for his landscape paintings and as an engraver. A pupil of Pouget and Lequesne, Yon made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1865 with his engravings for the works of Victor Hugo. He also engraved the landscapes of the Barbizon painters, notably, Corot, Millet, Guillemet, Van Marcke de Lummen and Vernier. In 1867 Yon exhibited his first painting entitled, Chemin a Velizy and continued to exhibit works in France and abroad throughout his life, winning several important awards throughout his career.
