Provenance: Collection of Eleuterio Laguna. Inventory no. 498. Work registered in RUBIO CELADA, A., 2004 A p 495 and RUBIO CELADA, A., 2005 D. p 247. With faults and damage. Provenance: private collection conceived since the 1970s between London and Madrid. Size: 12.8 x 12.8 cm (x4); 33.5 x 33.5 cm (frame). Mural belonging to the first period. The piece is decorated with a star of ribbons, the motif is formed with four tiles, in which a star is inscribed inside a double circle with rosettes inside, and in turn inside a border of scrolls. The work belongs to the collection of Eleuterio Laguna, which was housed in the museum of the Episcopal Palace in Segovia, but the museum was closed. The collection of Eleuterio Laguna is made up of a large number of works of art, many of them created by the Zuloagas. The Zuloaga family achieved a high degree of recognition in the manufacture and decoration of ceramics from the end of the 19th century until well into the 20th century. This fame was the direct consequence of the work of several members of the family, and of the transmission of the trade between different generations. Firstly, Guillermo and German (brothers), who developed their careers in the ceramic factory located in Moncloa, Madrid. Another member of the family, Daniel, worked in Segovia and also in Guipúzcoa. Later, Daniel's sons decided to continue with their father's trade, with Juan's work standing out among them. Many of the Zuloaga family trained in France at the Sevres factory, a characteristic that had a certain influence on their style, although without losing their own personality and identity.
