HistoryRoots of Braswell Galleries stem back to 1958 when Harvey Braswell opened a small used furniture store and auction in Amarillo, Texas. A strong southern antique market encoraged Harvey to aquire his inventory from the Northeast. Progressing relationships with shippers led the Braswell family to migrate to the New York area where Harvey Braswell continued his business with the southern market.
After graduating college, Gary Braswell entered the business buying antiques and shipping them to the south. In the mid 1980's the southern market calmed, prompting Gary to open Braswell Galleries auction house in Norwalk, CT. Braswell Galleries relocated to Stamford, CT in 2001. Since returning to Norwalk in January 2008, Braswell Galleries has grown from a small local auction house to one of the Northeast's largest antique and auction centers.
