The Abbey Auction Galleries
The Abbey Auction Galleries are located in Lower Lake, Battle in what was at one time the Senlac Cinema. The building is strikingly Art Deco in appearance and retains some of the original cinematic features including tiered seating and stage. The cinema itself closed in 1968 and was converted in to an auction rooms by the present owners.
The salerooms are on the site of the battle of Hastings and part of the buildings were originally a debtors prison.
Monthly sales of antique furniture, silver, jewellery, ceramics, metalware, rugs, garden statuary etc are held in these rooms. Special evening sales of paintings and prints are also held here every four weeks, making these sales the only dedicated picture sales in the South East, outside London.

The Granary Salerooms
The Granary Salerooms in Station Road, Battle were bought in the 1950s by Charles Ellin, the first of three generations to run the firm, having previously used a tiny Victorian chapel in nearby Whatlington. His first task was to sell the grain which filled the building. The general sales are held at the Granary on a monthly basis and usually contain around a 1000 lots. Items offered in these sales include antique and modern furniture, household furnishings, ceramics, metalware, collectibles, electrical appliances, rugs, pictures etc.

The Auctioneers
Robert Ellin has over 30 years experience in auctioneering and valuation. He worked under his father before taking over as principal in 1976. Roberts spends most of the week on the road visiting customers throughout Sussex, providing valuations and collecting items for sale. His many interests include laying under vintage cars.
Mark Ellin is a fellow of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA). He joined the family firm from school and has 20 years experience in auctioneering and valuation. He spends most of the weeks between the two auction rooms overseeing the busy auction cataloguing and visiting clients at home. His spare time is occupied with two young children and a passion for collecting antiquities.
