Biography

Since 1984, Guyette & Deeter has sold antique decoys and sporting art at auction, and boasts a combined experience of nearly 75 years. The auction house specializes exclusively in decoy auctions, and is the world's leading and most trusted decoy auctioneer. Total sales surpassed the $160,000,000 mark in 2015. Guyette & Deeter hosts several decoy auctions annually, and had seven live online auctions with Invaluable.com in 2014. Guyette & Deeter is a platinum Invaluable.com auction house.

Guyette & Deeter holds more world records in duck and shorebird decoys, fish decoys, duck and crow calls, and related items than all other auction houses combined. In January 2000, Guyette & Deeter/Sotheby's Jim McCleery sale grossed more than $11 million and was the largest single sale of decoys in history. Additionally, Guyette & Deeter, working with Christie's, set the new world record for a decoy at auction in 2007, selling a rare Merganser decoy for $856,000.

Services & Staff

Hundreds of decoy collectors attend Guyette & Deeter's decoy auctions each year. Bidders are encouraged to participate live in the audience, by phone, by absentee bidding, or live online bidding with Invaluable.com. Previews for upcoming auctions are available on the Guyette & Deeter website.

Guyette & Deeter offers free fair market value appraisals to consignors. Sellers may make an appointment for experts to visit on location, send photographs, or schedule a time to bring items in to a Guyette & Deeter location. All appraisals are held in the strictest confidence.

The Guyette & Deeter team includes original owners Gary & Dale Guyette, and since 2011, has included Leigh Ann & Jon Deeter. Both Guyette and Deeter travel the U.S. to participate in decoy shows, offer appraisals, and scout collections.
