Kedem Auction House was established in 2008. The owners have been dealing for many years with antique Jewish books and manuscripts, and items related to the history and culture of the Jewish people. Avishay specialized in Religious books (Sifrei Kodesh) and rabbinical manuscripts, while Meron specialized in modern day Jewish history and culture.
Kedem Auction House holds public auctions of religious books (Sifrei Kodesh), manuscripts and rabbinical letters, and alongside these auctions of items related to Jewish history, culture and art, along with Palestine or Holy Land related items.
Kedem’s aim is to offer for sale items of quality and value, produce professional and precise catalogs, conduct the auctions maintaining a high standard of credibility and order, and treat both depositors and bidders pleasantly and respectfully.
The auction house accepts for evaluation and sale single items and complete collections in all subjects related to Judaism, history and culture of the Jewish people and Eretz Israel.
Besides books and manuscripts, Kedem is interested in a wide variety of paper items such as letters, photographs, graphic items, and posters. It is also glad to offer in its auctions objects related to its specialty fields, including Hannuka lamps, Kiddush cups, Chala covers, and a variety of other objects of the Jewish home. This also includes Palestine objects such as Bezalel works, olive wood items, local ceramics, vintage toys and games, badges and pins, etc.
The auction house chose the name “Kedem” because the root of the word contains in it both a meaning referring to past days and old times and, at the same time, a meaning of progress and looking forward. Kedem Auction House hopes to combine in its activities all of these together.
