Lockdale Coin Ltd began in 1996 with a collectors shop in Ipswich town centre, and held our first auction in 1997. Over several years we expanded into three neighbouring units whilst conducting auctions at local hotels. Our business turnover grew to a level in excess of £4million. To house our expanding operation we relocated to a large facility at the historic Martlesham airfield, where we now conduct all business under one roof including auctions. This is ideal for us to be able to serve our clients in East Anglia and further afield, with easy access off the A12 and plenty of free parking.

We correspond with a database of over 15,000 customers worldwide. For each auction we publish a full colour illustrated catalogue, which is mailed out to subscribers. Many thousands more browse our sales online.

Lockdales is a member of the International Banknote Society, the British Numismatic Trade Association, and the Postcard Traders Association.

We are the current holders of several auction records such as: The British Record for a Rolex Submariner: £230,000 hammer, the World Record for a Rolex Explorer: £23,000 hammer, the World Record for a Suffragette medal: £20,000 hammer, and the World Record for a work by the artist Cyril Edward Power: £96,000 hammer.

For the consignment of large collections we will travel overseas if the deal is suitable. We are located not far from London, with good transport links, and we therefore receive many international buyers attending. East Anglia is also an important hub of collecting in itself, with great archaeological heritage, and many civic societies and collectors in our area.
