maak is a specialist art consultancy dedicated to contemporary ceramic art. Established in 2008 by Marijke Varrall-Jones, formerly Head of Contemporary Ceramics at Bonhams, maak holds two specialist auctions of contemporary ceramics per year.

The auctions present the very finest works by the leading international names in the studio pottery movement and is the only auction house holding regular sales that are dedicated to this field. Works offered range from Bernard Leach and his followers of the Anglo-Japanese style to the post-war masters Lucie Rie, Hans Coper and Ruth Duckworth. Contemporary ceramic artists regularly represented include Ewen Henderson, Gordon Baldwin, Colin Pearson, Rupert Spira and Edmund de Waal amongst a great many others. The auctions in November often have a strong selection of 20th Century Japanese Ceramics.

Based in West London maak has an international market base, sourcing works across the UK, Europe, USA and Japan and selling to a global audience. Bidding takes place online at www.maaklondon.com via the iRostrum online auction platform, whilst all works are available to view in the stunning ROA Gallery on Pall Mall during the living bidding period.
