Why Sell at Auction? There are many reasons why selling at auction is a wise alternative to selling unwanted items privately. Principally, however, the overriding reason is to obtain the highest possible price on the open market. There are no fixed values for antiques and because of the publicity and competition, bidding at a properly organised auction often results in prices exceeding those that can be obtained from a private sale or by other means.
Since we work for you on a commission basis it is in our joint interest to realise the maximum price for each item. We offer a complete auction service from single items to complete house clearances. Our specialty is relieving clients of all the worry and work involved. We undertake the whole job of sorting, listing appraising, removing all items, selling appropriate property and leaving the empty house presentable and ready for sale. Getting Items to Auction Small items can generally be collected at no charge. In other cases we can arrange for collection through good local contractors and deduct the cost from the proceeds.
Inspection We are pleased to offer verbal valuations in clients homes free of charge Alternatively we can discuss the valuation at the auction rooms or from photographs. Publicity We have and extensive mailing list and ensure regular and specialist buyers are kept informed of particular sales. Widespread general publicity includes advertisements in both local, national and specialist publications.
Settlement Net proceeds are normally issued within 10 days of sale.
Valuations We undertake valuations for insurance, probate and family division. Please contact us at The Rooms for details of this service.
