More About this Item

Description

Large 17" x 22" black and white photographic Limited Edition print by legendary Hollywood photographer Murray Garrett. Made directly from the original negative, this later-print is signed by Garrett and numbered 3/40.

This candid shot captures Marilyn Monroe rubbing tired eyes as she takes a break with handsome actor Dale Robertson (her date for the premiere of "Niagara") at the dugout fence at the Out of This World Series charity baseball game.

The game was hosted at Los Angeles' Gilmore Field Stadium on September 15, 1952. The stadium was demolished later that same year to make way for CBS Television City.

Marilyn wore a skin-tight pink sleeveless dress at this nighttime celebrity ballgame, and was flanked by other admiring male actors turned ball players like Mickey Rooney.

Murray Garrett worked as a professional photographer specializing in show business, first in New York in the early 1940's then in Hollywood from 1946 to 1973. He was sent on assignment by the best news magazines, including LIFE, TIME, and LOOK, and also worked privately for many directors, film executives, and stars on personal assignments.

Print measures 17" x 22", image measures 14.25" x 20".
