Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale" is more than just a debut novel; it's the inception of a cultural phenomenon that continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Published in 1953, "Casino Royale" introduced the world to the suave and sophisticated British Secret Service agent, James Bond, known by his code number, 007.

Fleming drew heavily from his own experiences and interests when crafting the character of James Bond and the thrilling world he inhabits. Fleming himself had a background in espionage, having served as a naval intelligence officer during World War II. This firsthand knowledge lent an authenticity to Bond's adventures that resonated with readers then and now.

Additionally, "Casino Royale" was not an instant success upon its release. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, initial sales were modest. However, the novel gained momentum through word-of-mouth praise and eventually became a bestseller, launching Fleming's career as a prolific author and establishing Bond as a cultural icon.

PLUS! THREE LE CERCLE CLUB PLAQUES FROM “DR. NO”

Included with this copy are a collection of three original casino chips / plaques: a Le Cercle/Les Ambassadeurs Club £10 plaque (pink, #0753), a £5 plaque (blue, #0698), and a £1 chip (red, #0327). Although not screen-used, the stamped serial numbers align with the numerous plaques loaned by the club to the studio for the production of "Dr. No," starring Sean Connery.

This film marked the inception of one of the most significant film franchises in history.
