The two stroke RD350 was produced from 1973 to 1975 featured an air cooled parallel twin, six speed gearbox reed valve engine and was one of the earliest two strokes to have’ Autolube’ an automatic oil injection system relieving the user from the need to pre mix the fuel with two stroke oil.

The track racing TD3 introduced in 1972 was essentially an over the counter, customer racer that could be be relatively competitive in the right hands and was a as a privateer forerunner to the immensely successful TZ series of race bikes.

This TD3 rolling chassis fitted with a 1973 RD 350 motor was found via a newspaper small advert in the West Australian gold mining town of Kalgoorlie in the 1980’s. At the time it was equipped with battery, lights and indicators for road use. The original fairing lower is market ‘Milledge Yamaha’ who at the time were the Australian Yamaha importers in Victoria, NSW.

The fork leg had a scruitineering sticker for the Showa circuit which unfortunately was removed when the bike was restored by well known Yamaha race engineer Geoff Greenham in 2008. Reported to be in good general condition it has been unused for a while and will require recommissioning before for use. It is supplied with a C&E form 388 for UK import dated 1998, and copies of emails relating to the restoration costs.
