Description: These caps & helmets represent 8 post war or altered examples. For reasons of material, sewing, insignia, construction, markings, etc., we feel that these have been made after WWII or have had significant additions or alterations rendering them substantially of post WWII origin. 1) PANZER BERET. Black wool beret w/ sewn eagle on black over sewn wreath & cockade on black. Beret liner has a tag that reads "Robert Lubstein Ges. Gesch. EREL Sonderklasse Berlin no. 55". This beret is a post WWII repro. (02-9153/BF). 2) ARMY M43 CAP. Field green wool body w/ silver piping at the top & sewn flat bullion trapezoidal eagle/cockade insignia. 2 Button front utilizes sew through 4 hole buttons. Partial sweatband. Stained interior. This cap is of post WWII production. (02-9266/BF). 3) NAVY M43 CAP. Dark blue body w/ gold bullion eagle sewn to the front along w/ silver bullion cockade. Top of cap is piped in silver bullion. It has a 2 button flap closure in the front. Interior is marked size "58" w/ a lengthy mfg. mark by Peter Kupper. In our opinion this cap, though worn, is a post WWII example. (02-9268/BF). 4) ENLISTED M43 CAP. Field green body w/ no insignia however there appears to be a ghost of a skull insignia that was sewn to the front. Additionally, there is a ghost of an SS eagle that was sewn to the left side. 2 Button front closure. Interior marked "1944 459623871209 60". In our opinion, this hat is of post WWII mfg. (02-9269/BF). 5) POLICE SHAKO. Black leather police style shako is a post WWII example. The cockade on the front has a black center. The star shaped front plate has a central medallion showing a crowned rampant lion painted black. Leather chinstrap. Full liner. Interior label reads in part "Friedrich Becker & Co.". This shako would have been made & used in post WWII Germany. (02-9356/BF). 6) WWI JAEGER HELMET. This lobster tail style helmet appears to be original WWI mfg. However, the body has been repainted black, the mounts have been repainted gray, the interior front visor has been repainted green, the cockades have been repainted & a new liner has been added. Leather chinstrap. Rear of lobster tail is stamped "57 1/2". (02-9455/BF). 7) FIREMANS M43 CAP. Cap has a dark blue wool body w/ fuchsia top piping. There is a crossed axe & helmet device on the front along w/ an enameled Hitler Youth diamond. 2 Button front closure. Sweatband in front. Partial paper label under partial sweatshield reads "Willy Wenzel FEUERLOSCHGERATE Limburg a. d. Lahn". This cap is a post WWII assembled example. Lot also includes a sm. size Hitler Youth armband. (02-9588-1/BF). 8) NSKOV VISOR CAP. A gray/green visor cap w/ black band featuring an NSKOV eagle at top & cockade below. Black cord chinstrap. Sweatband & sweatshield intact. Unmarked interior. This cap appears to be a post WWII put together example. (02-9615/BF). CONDITION: these caps generally show light to moderate wear except as noted. $400-600 for lot.
