This book is a rare item of WWI wartime memorabilia, an insight into the US Navy's part in the WWI at sea. 129 pages including rare photographs of the Texas' WWI service and a nominal roll of all the men and officers who served on her during her WWI wartime tour of duty. "

USS Texas (BB-35), the second ship of the US Navy named in honor of the state of Texas, is a New York-class battleship. The ship was launched in May 1912 and commissioned in March 1914. Soon after her commissioning, "Texas" saw action in Mexican waters and made numerous sorties into the North Sea during WWI. In 1916, USS "Texas" became the first U.S. battleship to mount anti-aircraft guns. She was also the first to control gunfire with directors and range-keepers. These early computers increased firing accuracy & were soon standard equipment on all US warships.
