By registering to bid or placing a bid in this auction, whether in person, by telephone, absentee bid, through Invaluable, or by any other accepted method, the bidder agrees to the following terms and conditions.
1. REGISTRATION TO BID
All bidders must complete the required registration before participating in the auction.
ICHIJO ART reserves the right to request identification, proof of address, company documents, financial references, a bidding deposit, or other information where necessary.
Depending on the value or nature of the lots, ICHIJO ART may require a deposit or other security before approving registration or increasing a bidding limit. ICHIJO ART reserves the right to refuse or cancel any registration at its discretion.

2. CONDITION OF LOTS AND CATALOGUE INFORMATION
All lots are offered and sold "AS IS" and in their present condition.
Due to the age and nature of antiques and works of art, lots may show wear, scratches, cracks, chips, losses, restorations, repairs, stains, discoloration, or other imperfections consistent with age and use.
Catalogue descriptions, photographs, dimensions, weights, artist names, periods, origins, materials, inscriptions, provenance, authenticity and other information are prepared in good faith and represent the opinion of ICHIJO ART at the time of cataloguing. They do not constitute a warranty or guarantee.
Catalogue descriptions may contain differences or inaccuracies arising from translation between languages. In the event of any discrepancy or ambiguity in a translated description, bidders are strongly advised to rely primarily on the photographs, personal inspection, and their own judgment before bidding.
If the online photographs are unclear or insufficient, please contact us before bidding for additional photographs or information at info@ichijo-art.com.
Dimensions and weights are approximate, and colors may differ slightly from the actual object due to photography, lighting, or display settings. The absence of any reference to damage, restoration, or alteration does not mean that a lot is free from defects.

3. CONDITION REPORTS
Condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy to prospective bidders.
Such reports are provided for reference only, represent opinions based on visual inspection, and are not exhaustive or a warranty regarding the condition of any lot.
Bidders who cannot inspect a lot in person are encouraged to request a condition report sufficiently in advance of the auction. Requests received immediately before or during the auction may not be answered in time.

4. BIDDING AND ONLINE SERVICES
The auctioneer has discretion over the conduct of the auction and may refuse bids, determine bidding increments, withdraw lots, establish reserves, resolve bidding disputes, or reopen bidding where appropriate. The auctioneer's decision shall be final.
Telephone, absentee and online bidding services are provided as a convenience. ICHIJO ART shall not be responsible for failures or delays caused by internet, telephone, platform, transmission, or other technical problems.
Bidders using Invaluable are responsible for confirming their registration, bidding limit, lot number, bid amount and contact information.

5. PAYMENT AND NON-PAYMENT
Successful bidders will receive an invoice following the auction. All payments must be made in Japanese Yen (JPY) unless otherwise agreed by ICHIJO ART.
Payment may be made by bank transfer, credit card where available, where available, or other methods specified on the invoice. All bank charges, intermediary bank fees, currency conversion charges and other financial institution fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
Where credit card payment is accepted, a 3.4% credit card processing fee will be added to the amount paid by credit card.
Full payment must be received within 7 calendar days from the date of the invoice. If payment is not completed within this period, ICHIJO ART may cancel the sale, charge a non-payment penalty equal to 30% of the hammer price, suspend future bidding privileges and/or resell the lot. The defaulting buyer may also be responsible for any reasonable loss or expense arising from the resale.
A bid constitutes a legally binding commitment to complete the purchase.
Ownership of a lot will not pass to the buyer, and no lot will be released or shipped, until full payment has been received in cleared funds.

6. COLLECTION, PACKING AND SHIPPING
Purchased lots may be collected or shipped only after full payment has been confirmed.
Packing and shipping may be arranged upon request by ICHIJO ART or through third-party carriers. All packing, shipping, insurance, customs duties, taxes, import or export charges and related expenses are the responsibility of the buyer.
ICHIJO ART shall not be responsible for delays, loss, damage, customs detention or other problems caused by third-party carriers, postal services, customs authorities or other external parties.
Buyers are advised to obtain appropriate transportation insurance for valuable items.

7. IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR JAPANESE SWORD BIDDERS
Bidders outside Japan must contact ICHIJO ART before bidding on Japanese swords, blades or other regulated sword-related lots.
Export of certain Japanese swords may require registration documents, export examination certificates, permits or other governmental procedures.
Buyers are responsible for confirming whether the importation and possession of such items are permitted in their destination country.
Failure or inability to obtain the necessary export or import authorization does not relieve the successful bidder of the obligation to complete payment.

8. CITES / WASHINGTON CONVENTION
Certain lots may contain animal or plant materials regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES / Washington Convention), including ivory, tortoiseshell, coral, certain woods, horn, bone or other regulated materials.
Export or import of such items may be prohibited or may require permits, certificates or other documentation.
Buyers intending to export CITES-regulated items are strongly advised to contact ICHIJO ART before bidding and are responsible for complying with Japanese law and the laws of the destination country.
ICHIJO ART does not guarantee that any export or import authorization can be obtained.
Failure or inability to obtain an export or import permit shall not constitute grounds for cancellation, return or non-payment.

9. CANCELLATIONS AND RETURNS
All sales are final.
ICHIJO ART does not accept cancellations, returns or exchanges based solely on a buyer's change of mind, subjective opinion, failure to inspect the lot before bidding, or inability to arrange shipping or importation after the auction.
Nothing in these conditions excludes any right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

10. GOVERNING LAW
These Conditions of Sale and all auction transactions shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
