A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED EBONY, PEWTER, BRASS AND TORTOISESHELL BOULLE MARQUETRY CABINETS
CIRCA 1780, USING EARLY 18TH CENTURY ELEMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO ANDRE-CHARLES BOULLE, PROBABLY SUPPLIED BY PHILIPPE-FRANÇOIS JULLIOT
Each with a later breakfront porphyry top above an egg-and-dart moulding centred by a scrolling foliage frieze, above three doors, the central panel inlaid en contre-partie, surmounted by a Bacchic mask with tied hair, the centre with a figure emblematic of the Seasons, one depicting Autumn the other Winter and both on a shaped pedestal with paw feet, the flanking panels decorated with arabesques and waisted panels with ram's masks, one inlaid en première partie, each angle with pierced angled agraffes, the sides decorated with putti and arabesque motifs, on a shaped plinth with rosettes and toupie feet, the two central spiralling, each door veneered to the reverse in amaranth
