Item Overview

Description

A Pair of Meissen Porcelain Covered Urns,
each of baluster form, mounted at the shoulders with beast form handles, decorated both front and back with a classical figure, each emblematic of a season, having crossed swords in underglaze blue, incised K111 and impressed 8.
Height 16 1/4 inches.

Condition Report

Each in good, stable, complete condition. Decoration and gilt bright throughout. One lid with repair to lip (approx. 1 3/4 inches long from edge to edge, about 3/8 of an inch at deepest from edge), each finial fluoresces slightly. Bodies of urns intact without loss or repair. Each having tight hairline to one handle (inline with mouth rim, likely a production flaw). Examination under UV light confirmed repair to lid, showed dirty areas, but did not reveal any condition issues.
