circa 1775
cut around the foot with eliptical flutes, a line of stars and ovals above and at the shoulder, the shoulder facet cut, the neck cut with hexagonal facets, the flattened stoppers facet-cut also, 28.5cm., (a few minute chips and scratches) (4)

Notes

This shape of decanter is known to have been decorated by James Giles at his London decorating workshop in circa 1772-75. He obtained his glass from William Parker, who in turn is thought to have been supplied by the Whitefriars Glasshouse. The term 'sugarloaf' is a contemporary one.
