More About this Item

Description: This is a Museum Edition, hand pulled, fine art lithograph of Alphonse Mucha's, in-house poster for printer and editor, F. Champenois. Champenois had commissioned Mucha to design this lithograph to serve as his company's in-house poster and 1898 calendar. Due to its immediate popularity, La Plume magazine swiftly created a decorative panel titled Revere (daydream) using the image. The La Plume decorative panel was widely sold without the lettering. The version being sold here is the Champenois in-house poster. This hand pulled lithograph preserves Mucha's classic work art. It was pulled on Rives BFK archival, acid free paper one colour at a time, from separate plates, in perfect registration for a limited edition of 300 pieces. The edition is numbered 1/300 to 300/300. There is also a museum edition of 35 (1/35 to 35/35). This piece was recreated, from the original image by Alphonse Mucha, under the endorsement of the Mucha Foundation. The chromist created this image by hand-drawing directly onto specially prepared surfaces, which were then chemically transferred onto lithographic plates, one plate for each color. The plates used to create this edition have been destroyed. The lithograph was printed at S2 Atelier in New York City by master printers, under the supervision of Technical Director, Raymond Mazza. This piece was hand-drawn at the Mucha Foundation while viewing the original - so colors are a perfect match. You almost cannot distinguish it from the original. Great care was taken to precisely recreate Mucha’s original 1897 image. This recreation bears the chop marks of the Mucha Foundation and S2 Editions Atelier. The signature of the chromist is printed unobtrusively on this lithograph in order to distinguish this recreation from Mucha’s original work. Specifications: Artist: Alphonse Mucha Title: 'F.
