Description

Hand-coloured lithographs, 35 x 45 cm, velin paper, signed in the stone (several tears and stains, mostly in margins). - Thomas Worth designed many satires for Currier & Ives devoted to the experiences of riders and drivers. This shows white men driving fast buggies during races, and black men boxing. Some are of the firm's Blacktown series, which might be perceived as racist or offensive by today's moral standards.
