Platinum (pronounced /ˈplætɨnəm/) is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Pt and an atomic number of 78. Its name is derived from the Spanish term platina del Pinto, which is literally translated into "little silver of the Pinto River." It is in Group 10 of the periodic table of elements. A dense, malleable, ductile, precious, gray-white transition metal, platinum is resistant to corrosion and occurs in some nickel and copper ores along with some native deposits. Platinum is used in jewelry, laboratory equipment, electrical contacts and electrodes, platinum resistance thermometers, dentistry, and catalytic converters. Platinum bullion has the ISO currency code of XPT. Platinum is a commodity with a value that fluctuates according to market forces.
Gold (pronounced /ˈɡoʊld/) is a chemical element with the symbol Au (Latin: aurum) and an atomic number of 79. It is a highly sought-after precious metal in jewelry, in sculpture, and for ornamentation since the beginning of recorded history. The metal occurs as nuggets or grains in rocks, in veins and in alluvial deposits. Gold is dense, soft, shiny and the most malleable and ductile pure metal known. Pure gold has a bright yellow color and luster traditionally considered attractive, which it maintains without rusting in air or water. It is one of the coinage metals and formed the basis for the gold standard used before the collapse of the Bretton Woods system in 1971.
At the end of 2006, it was estimated that all the gold ever mined totaled 158,000 tonnes. This can be represented by a cube with an edge length of just 20.2 meters. Modern industrial uses include dentistry and electronics, where gold has traditionally found use because of its good resistance to oxidative corrosion. Chemically, gold is a transition metal and can form trivalent and univalent cations upon solvation. At STP it is attacked by aqua regia (a mixture of acids), forming chloroauric acid and by alkaline solutions of cyanide but not by single acids such as hydrochloric, nitric or sulfuric acids. Gold dissolves in mercury, forming amalgam alloys, but does not react with it. Since gold is insoluble in nitric acid which will dissolve silver and base metals, this is exploited as the basis of the gold refining technique known as "inquartation and parting". Nitric acid has long been used to confirm the presence of gold in items, and this is the origin of the colloquial term "acid test", referring to a gold standard test for genuine value.
JewelryBecause of the softness of pure (24k) gold, it is usually alloyed with base metals for use in jewelry, altering its hardness and ductility, melting point, color and other properties. Alloys with lower caratage, typically 22k, 18k, 14k or 10k, contain higher percentages of copper, or other base metals or silver or palladium in the alloy. Copper is the most commonly used base metal, yielding a redder color. Eighteen carat gold containing 25% copper is found in antique and Russian jewellery and has a distinct, though not dominant, copper cast, creating rose gold. Fourteen carat gold-copper alloy is nearly identical in color to certain bronze alloys, and both may be used to produce police, as well as other, badges. Blue gold can be made by alloying with iron and purple gold can be made by alloying with aluminium, although rarely done except in specialized jewelry. Blue gold is more brittle and therefore more difficult to work with when making jewelry. Fourteen and eighteen carat gold alloys with silver alone appear greenish-yellow and are referred to as green gold. White gold alloys can be made with palladium or nickel. White 18 carat gold containing 17.3% nickel, 5.5% zinc and 2.2% copper is silver in appearance. Nickel is toxic, however, and its release from nickel white gold is controlled by legislation in Europe. Alternative white gold alloys are available based on palladium, silver and other white metals (World Gold Council), but the palladium alloys are more expensive than those using nickel. High-carat white gold alloys are far more resistant to corrosion than are either pure silver or sterling silver. The Japanese craft of Mokume-gane exploits the color contrasts between laminated colored gold alloys to produce decorative wood-grain effects.
Colored gold
While pure gold is yellow in color, gold can also appear to have other colors. These colors are generally obtained by alloying gold with other elements in various proportions.
For example, alloys which are mixed 14 parts gold to 10 parts alloy create 14 carat gold, 18 parts gold to 6 parts alloy creates 18 carat, and so on. This is often expressed as the result of the ratio, ie: 14/24 equals 0.585 (rounded off), and 18/24 is 0.750. There are hundreds of possible alloys and mixtures possible, but in general the addition of silver will color gold green, and the addition of copper will color it red. A mix of around 50/50 copper and silver gives the range of yellow gold alloys the public is accustomed to seeing in the marketplace.
White gold is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal, usually nickel or palladium. Like yellow gold, the purity of white gold is given in carats.
White gold's properties vary depending on the metals and proportions used. As a result, white gold alloys can be used for different purposes; while a nickel alloy is hard and strong, and therefore good for rings and pins, gold-palladium alloys are soft, pliable and good for white gold gemstone settings, sometimes with other metals like copper, silver, and platinum for weight and durability, although this often requires specialized goldsmiths. Almost all white gold jewelry is rhodium plated since gold alloyed with palladium or nickel never comes out true white, but tinted brown, therefore requiring a thin layer of rhodium to mask the tinted shade and make it true white.
Rose gold is a gold and copper alloy widely used for specialized jewelry due to its reddish color. It is also known as pink gold and red gold. As it was popular in Russia at the beginning of the nineteenth century, it is also known as Russian gold, although this term has become somewhat rare.Although the names are often used interchangeably, the difference between red, rose, and pink gold is the copper content-the higher the copper content, the stronger the red coloration, as pure gold is yellow and pure copper is reddish. A common alloy for rose gold is 75% gold and 25% copper by mass (18 carat). Since rose gold is an alloy, there is therefore no such thing as "pure rose gold".
Rose gold alloysThe highest carat version of rose gold is also known as crown gold, which is 22 carat. As said in the previous paragraph, 18 carat rose gold may be made of 25% copper and 75% gold. For 18 carat rose gold, typically about 4% silver is added to the 75% gold and 21% copper to give a rose color. 14 carat red gold is often found in the Middle East and contains 41.67% copper.
Green gold alloys are made by leaving the copper out of the alloy mixture, and just using gold and silver. It actually appears as a greenish yellow, rather than as green. Eighteen carat green gold would therefore contain a mix of gold 75% and silver 25%. Fired enamels adhere better to these alloys.
Grey gold alloys are made by adding silver, manganese and copper in specific ratios to the gold.
In mineralogy, diamond (from the ancient Greek adámas) is the allotrope of carbon, where the carbon atoms are arranged in a variation of the face centered cubic crystal structure called diamond lattice. After graphite, diamond is the second most stable form of carbon. Its hardness and high dispersion of light make it useful for industrial applications and jewelry. It is the hardest known mineral. It is possible to treat regular diamonds under a combination of high pressure and high temperature to produce diamonds that are harder than the diamonds used in hardness gauges.Diamonds are specifically renowned as a material with superlative physical qualities; they make excellent abrasives because few substances can scratch them. As a result, they hold a polish extremely well and retain their luster. Approximately 130 million carats (26,000 kg (57,000 lb)) are mined annually, with a total value of nearly USD $9 billion, and about 100,000 kg (220,000 lb) are synthesized annually.
The diamond (from the ancient Greek ἀδάμας (adamas) meaning invincible) is one of the best-known and most sought-after gemstones. Diamonds have been known to mankind and used as decorative items since ancient times; some of the earliest references can be traced to the Indians. Diamond's hardness and high dispersion of light make it useful for industrial applications and jewelry. One of the characteristics of diamonds that make them so desirable as jewelry is their tendency to disperse white light into its component colors, giving the diamond its characteristic "fire." Diamonds are such a highly traded commodity that multiple organizations have been created for grading and certifying diamonds based on the four Cs which are carat, cut, color, and clarity. Other characteristics, such as shape and presence or lack of fluorescence also affect the desirability and thus the value of a diamond used for jewelry. Perhaps the most famous use of a diamond in jewelry is its use in engagement rings. This use became popular in the early to mid 1900's due to an advertisement campaign by the De Beers company, though diamond rings were used to symbolize engagements since at least the 15th century. The diamond's high value has also been the driving force behind dictators and revolutionary entities, especially in Africa, using slave labor to mine blood diamonds to fund conflicts.

A Diamond Cut is a style or design guide used when shaping a diamond for polishing such as the Brilliant Cut. In order to best utilize a diamond gemstone's material properties, a number of different diamond cuts have been developed. A diamond cut constitutes a more or less symmetrical arrangement of facets which together modify the shape and appearance of a diamond crystal. Diamond cutters must consider several factors, such as the shape and size of the crystal, when choosing a cut. The practical history of diamond cuts can be traced back to the Middle Ages, while their theoretical basis was not developed until the turn of the 20th century. Design creation and innovation continue to the present day: new technology-notably laser cutting and computer-aided design-has enabled the development of cuts whose complexity, optical performance, and waste reduction were hitherto unthinkable.
The most popular of diamond cuts is the modern round brilliant, whose facet arrangements and proportions have been perfected by both mathematical and empirical analysis. Also popular are the fancy cuts which come in a variety of shapes-many of which were derived from the round brilliant. A diamond's cut is evaluated by trained graders, with higher grades given to stones whose symmetry and proportions most closely match the particular "ideal" used as a benchmark. The strictest standards are applied to the round brilliant; although its facet count is invariable, its proportions are not. Different countries base their cut grading on different ideals: one may speak of the American Standard or the Scandinavian Standard (Scan. D.N.), to give but two examples.

The order of the catalogue will follow. If a purchaser wishes to bid by telephone, it is advisable to make the request in writing accompanied by a statement of identity.

7. In the event of payment by check by the purchaser, the transfer of property of the object will take place only after cashing of the check. In the event of payment by uncertified check, the withdrawal of the objects could be differed until cashing of the check.
Purchasers who do not reside in France, will be able to pick up their purchases only after payment per telex or SWIFT. In the absence of payment by check or in cash, the object could be given to auction immediately or following the first opportunity.

En cas de double enchère reconnue effective par le Commissaire-Priseur, le lot sera remis en vente, tous les amateurs présents pouvant concourir à cette deuxième mise en adjudication.

FOLLE ENCHERE
Par dérogation de l’Art.14 de la loi du 10 juillet 2000 : «A défaut de paiement par l’adjudicataire, après mise en demeure restée infructueuse, le bien est remis en vente à la demande du vendeur sur folle enchère de l’adjudicataire défaillant ; si le vendeur ne formule pas cette demande dans un délai de deux mois à compter de l’adjudication, la vente est résolue de plein droit, sans préjudice de dommages et intérêts dus par l’adjudicataire défaillant».

DÉFAUT DE PAIEMENT
A défaut de paiement du montant de l’adjudication et des frais, une mise en demeure sera adressée à l’acquéreur par lettre recommandée avec avis de réception. A expiration du délai de 10 jours après cette mise en demeure et à défaut de paiement de la somme due, il sera perçu sur l’acquéreur et pour prise en charge des frais de recouvrement un honoraire complémentaire de 10% du prix d’adjudication, avec un minimum de 250€. L’application de cette clause ne fait pas obstacle à l’allocation de dommages-intérêts et aux dépens de la procédure qui serait nécessaire, et ne préjuge pas de l’éventuelle mise en oeuvre de la procédure de folle enchère.

RETRAIT DES ACHATS
Il est conseillé aux adjudicataires de procéder à un enlèvement de leurs lots dans les meilleurs délais afin d’éviter les frais de magasinage qui sont à leur charge. Le magasinage n’entraîne pas la responsabilité de la S.V.V. Rossini ni de l’expert à quelque titre que ce soit. Frais de magasinage Salle ROSSINI : Les frais de magasinage sont dus à compter du 9 e jour (y compris les jours fériés). Leur montant est de 4€ TTC par jour et par lot (y compris les jours fériés). Les lots dépassant le montant de 10 000 € supporteront une participation complémentaire aux frais d’assurance et d’administration de 1 % TTC de leur valeur. En cas de paiement par chèque ou par virement, la délivrance des objets pourra être différée jusqu’à l’encaissement. Dès l’adjudication, l’objet sera sous l’entière responsabilité de l’adjudicataire. EXPÉDITION DES LOTS
Le transport est effectué sous l’entière responsabilité de l’acheteur. Les lots peuvent être expédiés par la S.V.V. Rossini aux conditions suivantes :
- Une demande écrite de l’adjudicataire, mentionnant expressément la décharge de la S.V.V. Rossini en cas de dommage de l’objet subit durant le transport.
2- Les frais d’expédition seront majorés du coût de l’emballage, selon une grille tarifaire variable suivant la valeur et la taille de l’objet. Le choix du transporteur et l’organisation du transport appartiennent à l’acheteur. La S.V.V. Rossini peut fournir, de manière non contractuelle, les coordonnées de transporteurs.
La formalité de licence d’exportation peut requérir un délai de cinq à dix semaines, celui-ci pouvant être sensiblement réduit selon la rapidité avec laquelle l’acquéreur précisera ses instructions à l’étude.
