Notes

SKNAC bio: Andrew Qappik was born in 1964 in Nunataq, Nunavut (then part of the Northwest Territories) and has lived in Pangnirtung, Nunavut, for much of his life. He was encouraged to my art by his uncles Solomon Karpik and Imoona Karpik, both artists, and by the age of 14 Andrew Qappik had five prints in the annual Pangnirtung Print Collection. Qappik specializes in stone cut, stencil, etching and lithography, and his artwork depicts animals and traditional Inuit culture in a realistic style, often with a wry humour. Qappik had the honour of contributing to the design of the Nunavut flag and its coat of arms, and in 2018 he was commissioned by the Royal Canadian Mint to design Nunavut's 20th Anniversary gold coin. His work has appeared in many publications, including several issues of the Inuit Art Quarterly, and can be found in many public collections, including the British Museum (London, UK), National Gallery of Canada, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Dennis Museum Centre (Travers City, Michigan). Andrew Qappik made a member of the Order of Canada in 2017. He continues to live and work in Pangnirtung, Nunavut.

Terms

1. The closing of lots is staggered, with each subsequent lot closing one minute after the previous lot. If a bid is placed within the final moments of bidding for a particular lot, the bidding for that lot only will be extended for 3 minutes to allow for counter bids.

3. For Canadian buyers a Goods and Services Tax of 5% will be charged on the winning bid and buyer's premium on all lots shipped to Canadian Provinces other than Saskatchewan. Notwithstanding the preceding condition, if the purchaser can provide, within 30 days of the sale of any lot, written opinion from at least two acknowledged experts or authorities that the said lot was incorrectly described in the catalogue, and if the purchaser returns the said lot within 45 days after such notice in the same condition as sold, we as agent for the consignor will rescind the sale and refund the purchase price.

6. We reserve the right to withdraw any property up to the moment of sale.

7. With the fall of the auctioneer's hammer, title to the lot being offered will pass to the highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer, subject to the conditions set forth herein.
