More About this Item

Description

Andrew Wyeth (American, 1917-2009), "The Quaker," 1976, collotype on board, measures approximately 20 x22 inches (sight), overall in the frame it measures 27 x 29 inches, housed in a Heydenryk style frame. CONDITION: Good. This collotype was issued in conjunction with the Andrew Wyeth Metropolitan Museum of Art Exhibition in 1976, which was one of the great successes in that institution's history. After the close of the show it was agreed to issue a special Collotype of one painting, the image that had been most requested; THE QUAKER. Thomas Hoving, the Director of the Met, worked with Harry Lerner of Triton Press to bring about a faithful image of this never reproduced work, and Wyeth approved every stage of the process. Comes with its original paperwork.
