Artist or Maker: Takeru Amano (Japanese, b. 1977)
Literature: Takeru Amano is the son of iconic illustrator and artist Yoshitaka Amano (creator of Final Fantasy, Gatchaman - G Force, the Battle of the Planets-, Time Boken, Hutch the Honeybee, etc.). Part of a new generation of Japanese artist re-actualizing the Anime iconography, Takeru Amano is one of the leaders of this "New Art" movement. In his work he explores important and controversial themes to insular Japanese (nature preservation vs Fukushima, post-WWII identity, consequence of over-present media, etc.) yet with a universal dimension and understanding. A late bloomer in the art scene, Takeru Amano studied painting and drawing in Paris and is passionate about Western and Asian history of art and painting techniques. He had solo exhibitions in Japan, Paris and Hong Kong and his art is owned by important collections in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, USA, Switzerland, Germany, France, UK and Australia.
