Charles Verneau, Paris From the few historic references that mention it, the Bal des Increvables was a costumed cycling party - a concept fully demonstrated in this pastel-hued design by Dufau in which Renaissance dandies and Nors gods pedal merrily toward an allegorical goddess holding the masks of comedy and tragedy. Note the Sagot sale stamp in the lower margin, indicating that this copy was sold by the leading poster dealer in Paris at the time. (bicycle, bike)
