Having enjoyed much competition success from the late 1940s through to the early 1960s, Moto Morini’s first v-twin models – the 344cc Sport and Strada – were launched at the Milan show in 1971. The Morini 3½ proved popular with enthusiast riders despite being not far off the price of a Honda CB750 when new.

Designed by Franco Lambertini (who had jumped ship from Ferrari in 1970), the new 72° v-twin was the first bike engine with belt-driven cams, and being of modular design, it spawned 125 and 250cc singles as well as a range of 250 and 500cc v-twin models without huge extra investment.

The Morini 250J was produced from 1980 to 1985. Its 239cc air-cooled OHC v-twin had electronic ignition, an electric start and it put 24bhp through a 6-speed gearbox. Although never the fastest machine in its class the 250J was small and light (125kgs) and so was particularly easy to ride.

This 250J is fitted with a handlebar-mounted touring fairing and it is in exceptional ex-factory showroom condition. With only 1,237kms (769 miles) on the odometer, it has never been registered and has always been part of the same collection, until now.
