Charles Blondin (French, 1913-1991) "The Opera" Mid Century Oil on Canvas. Signed by the artist lower lef6, Stretcher 13 x 18 inches. Framed Dimensions 21 X 25 Inches. Weight 7 pds. Not too much is know about this elusive French painter who lived and painted Paris during the 1930's and 1940's. He was a member of the School of Paris, or Ecole de Paris. It is interesting that his name is taken from Jean-François Gravelet dit Charles Blondin (1824-1897), the famous French daredevil who crossed the Niagara on a tightrope in 1859.
