NOTE

Charles Wild is best known for his architectural subjects, particularly of cathedrals and colleges although he also painted historical subjects and illustrated William Henry Pyne's Royal Residences, 1819 which included views of the interiors of Windsor Castle, St. James's Palace, Carlton House, Kensington Palace, Hampton Court, Buckingham House, and Frogmore.

It is likely that the present watercolours are aquatinted in Sir George Nayler's 1837 publication of The Coronation of His most sacred Majesty King George the Fourth solemnized in the collegiate church of Saint Peter Westminster upon the nineteenth day of July MDCCCXXI. (published by Henry George Bohn, London, Victoria and Albert Museum).
