Pre-Columbian, Chancay or Chimu culture, Peru, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. This is a punch-decorated copper applique fragment, broken at the bottom, with a design that looks like two birds with long, downsloping beaks (toucans?) in profile. An item like this was made to decorate a fine piece of clothing. Size: 3.5" W x 5.4" H (8.9 cm x 13.7 cm)
