Description
MADONNA AND CHILD oil on panel 7 by 5 1/8 in. 17.8 by 13 cm. This Virgin and Child composition is known from thirty or so versions from a variety of workshops (see D. De Vos, Hans Memling, p. 94). Probably after a lost original by Rogier Van der Weyden, the most faithful copy is considered to be by Hans Memling (Brussels, Musees Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique).
