Lot 867: Clayton S. Price (American, 1874-1950), Important modernist painter. Price studied at the St. Louis

School of Fine Art in 1905 and exhibited extensively at the Portland Art Museum, 1942 (retrospective); Seattle Art Museum, Los Angeles Art Museum, Detroit Institute of Art, Walker A. Center, California Palace of Legion of Honor, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the 48 State Competition, 1939. His works are included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art. This is a large and important example of this artist’s work.
