Kopec letter that describes examination of the revolver for purpose of authentication & further states: "The frame of this revolver was manufactured as the principal component of a U.S. Cavalry revolver during 1874 and was ordnance sub-inspected by O.W. Ainsworth." The Kopec letter further states "The subject revolver originated from within Lot Five. (#4500-#5504). Lot Five was one of the "prime" lots from which the revolvers that had been issued to the Seventh Cavalry were drawn. Our records indicate that four examples i.e. #4155, #5020, #5065, #5099 and #5100 have "presumptive" evidence pointing to their participation in the famous Custer Battle". Also included are photocopied pages pertaining to historically associated 7th Cavalry Colts. CONDITION: gun retains 40% dull faded reblue showing sm. spots of pitting & light dents. Bbl. address is very weak. Left side of frame has clear markings. Heavily sanded refinished grips have diamond shaped wood inserts at head indicating repair. Half cock notch on hammer is gone.
