Notes

PROPERTY FROM THE DOUG AND ELLEN MILLER COLLECTION

This painting was undertaken in 1974 for a project organised by Wilderness World and Doug Miller entitled Authenticated World Record Big Game Animals of North America in which Thom painted six works depicting exact portraits of the species. A limited edition of prints were produced and one set is included in this lot.

The present work shows the record male Cougar crouching at the base of the tree on the south canyon wall in Utah where he was taken by Garth Roberts in 1964. This Cougar broke the record that had been held by Theodore Roosevelt since 1901.
