French, early 20th century un homme faisant reculer un cheval (a ploughman backing a shire horse) signed: E. Drappier, stamped Colin Paris and initialled underneath L.B. bronze, very dark brown patina 33.5 by 50cm., 14 by 19Nin. Drappier was born in Viterne (Meurthe-et-Moselle) and specialised in subjects of working horses, for example Passage Difficile, Cheval de trait et paysan and the present group.
