Booklet cover for a publication on the RMS Queen Mary cruise ship of the Cunard White Star line - Design features stylised text and a small illustration of the ship with a detailed description of the Queen Mary Ship - Greatest Achievement in History of British Shipbuilding - The latest link in the Cunard White Star express service between Southampton, Cherbourg and New York, the "Queen Mary" is the culmination of nearly a century's experience of the needs of the North Atlantic service. Size, speed, dignity, power all these qualities are immediately suggested by her massive hull, clear-cut cruiser stern and three shapely funnels. But Britain's masterpiece assumes vast proportions not for mere effect, but because she is the only ship which will satisfactorily fulfil the conditions of the service for which she is designed. Essentially she is a ship-magnificent, stately and seaworthy, sturdily constructed to withstand greater stresses than she is ever likely to encounter, equipped with all the most modern appliances for safety and safe navigation. No attempt has been made to strive at grandiose effects which might involve a sacrifice of stability or strength. She is not only the greatest achievement in the history of British shipbuilding, but marks a new era in ocean travel. The finest brains in the country have contributed to her creation. Her structure embodies the latest advances in naval architecture, marine engineering and scientific research. Poor condition, only cover restored of booklet missing, tears, creasing, staining, paper skimming, double sided.
