More About this Item

Description: ERNST ROHM
(1887 - 1934) Nazi Brownshirt who organized, trained and headed the SA, a friend of Hitler who was at his side in the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, later set-up and executed by Hitler following their disagreement on the use of the two million-strong SA. ROHM TO HIS LOVER: "...YOU NAUGHTY PIG BOY!..." Especially rare A.L.S. with outrageous gay content on Rohm''s "Hauptman A.D." letter head with holograph transmittal envelope, 2pp. 4to., Munich, Mar. 3, 1926 to "Franz Kugler[?]". In part: "...Dirty brat, I have just received your dear letter and respond immediately. You are right, it is a scandal that I have addressed you in a formal manner and it will not happen again. You naughty pig-boy, write ''my dear Röhm'', just as if we already laid in bed together, which is regrettably not the case. We'll leave it at that. I order that this salutation will be used in the future! Your letter was a lot cheekier than that from Brey; it seems that being without your influence has a civilizing effect for Brey. What matters to you both except thirst seems to be your magical sex drive. To this end I congratulate you, because I have it too, all the more that it is currently my only ''positive'' activity. So Dolf has been hanging around in Berlin and in the Friedrichstrasse, if only he was not on the wrong side of the road. Got caught. Bavarians are particularly popular in Berlin – namely in the Friedrichstrasse! Not sure what you will be to that end in Kempten, is a mystery to me. At first I am mistaken. Well, I wish you the best! For the time being I take note that you will be coming to Munich on March 18, but naturally expect before a well-written letter and no later than on the Ides of March - I suppose that you still know what that is from your Latin time, you babarian - an exact arrival message. I hope to devote myself to you then ''fully and completely'', if I''m not sexually otherwise obliged. However there will be no drinking party arranged under my tutelage. Well, again many thanks for your letter and prompt reply!..." A couple on very small marginal tape repairs and tiny tears, else very good. Rohm did little to hide his homosexuality in his pre-Nazi days. However, even before his murder, the Nazis had begun cracking down on homosexuality, banning organizations, burning books, and arresting the first of some 100,000. Around 15,000 gays were sent to concentration camps, where some were experimented upon in bizarre efforts to find a "cure" for their sexual orientation.
