Notes

Floris Verster painted a number of still lifes with his favourite white vase by ceramist Chris Lanooy, which is currently in the collection of the Museum De Lakenhal, Leiden. Verster turned to still life around 1885 and already during his lifetime it was recognised that he excelled in this genre: "In het bloemenstilleven heeft Verster zijn veelzijdigste en rijkste uitingsmogelijkheden gevonden. (C.v.H. Tentoonstelling Floris Verster te Utrecht, Centraal Museum, Kunsthandel Huinck. In: Elseviers Geïllustreerd Maandschrift, 1927, vol. 37, pp. 306 - 307)
