Description: ENGRAVED SINGLE SHOT TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 40-65 Ballard Everlasting. S# 14763. Bbl. 28" rnd. w/ 3 raised Rigby flats at breech end. Bbl. measures 7/8" dia. at muzzle. Identified in Marlin factory catalogs as the No. 6 1/2 P.G. rifle. This 3rd Model Rigby series dates to the early 1880's. Frame has beautiful full coverage factory engraving featuring circular vignettes w/ game scene of bedded stag on right side & alert standing stag on left side. Scenes are surrounded by vine type foliate scroll w/ stippled backgrounds & outlined by sm. spade icons between dbl. straight line borders. Spade shaped borders & scroll highlights continue on the 3 facets of the rebated receiver ring. Top Rigby bbl. lug is marked "BALLARD" in banner wrapped around dbl. pointed arrow & surrounded by engraved highlights. Side Rigby lugs have matching scroll highlights. Muzzle end of bbl. has engraved decorative border. Forged frame, full finger loop lever, 2 piece breechblock & hammer have case colored finish. Checkered trigger has blue finish. Wind gauge spirit level front sight w/ mid range vernier peep tang sight. Target stock of magnificent marble cake grained European walnut w/ dark reddish brown color features S curved pistol grip, cheekpiece & nickel finished brass Swiss butt. Pistol grip has finely checkered sides w/ V shaped horn inlay at bottom of S curve. Matching forearm has carved horn schnabel tip w/ matching ribbon design point pattern checkering. Rigby off-hand target rifles are one of the finest rifles of the time & very sought after by collectors today. Weight: 9 lbs., 11.6 oz. CONDITION: this rifle is one of the very finest Rigby Ballards remaining today. Bbl. retains over 90% lightly faded blue showing sm. dark spots & very fine scratches. Action retains over 95% case colors & shows slight fading. Sights have very good charcoal blue w/ some parts fading to smooth brown. Swiss buttplate retains over 25% nickel exposing brass w/ an attractive patina. Stocks have very good finish w/ sharp checkering showing some sm. scratches & handling marks. Stock has fine hairline crack where it meets the right side of receiver. Left side at comb has sm. line from contact w/ vernier sight adjustment screw. Bore is bright & clean w/ strong rifling. (01-14812/DS). ANTIQUE. $12,500-19,000.

Payments: 8. PAYMENT: All items are to be paid for in American Funds the day of the sale. We accept Cash, pre-approved checks, Visa, MC, American Express, Discover & wire transfers. All items must be paid for in full before being removed from our facility. All fees associated with the cost of a wire transfer or bank check are those of the purchaser.
* Must have valid drivers license when paying by charge cards & checks.
* Checks are to be pre-approved by auctioneer prior to the auction (at least 2 business days before auction, NOT the day of the auction). A letter of reference from your bank is recommended to those who have never done business with us before. The auctioneer reserves the right to hold merchandise purchased by checks that have not been pre-approved, until we can see that the check has cleared the bank. It is our policy to hold merchandise on all first time buyers until check has cleared the bank. Our bank has recommended 10 business days. This enables the check to clear the bank & if it does not, then it gives them the time to notify us via mail.
* There will be a $25 fee charged for all returned checks.
* Third party checks are not accepted.
Note: Delay in payment, means delay in shipment to you. Delay in shipment to you could mean you lose all possibility of a return, so please make a prompt payment. Speediest form of payment is Credit Cards or Bank Checks. Personal or Business checks from first time buyers will hold the shipment up for 10 business days until checks have cleared the bank. This could jeopardize the warranties of the descriptions if the shipment exceeds 18 business days.
9. OUT OF COUNTRY BUYERS.
9A. Payment must be in the form of either Wire transfers or Checks drawn on United States Banks. Credit cards are only accepted for the shipping process, NOT for payment. All fees associated with the use of a wire transfer is the responsibility of the purchaser. This includes the $25 fee that Poulin Antiques & Auctions, Inc. is charged by their bank for the international wire transfer.
9B. The payment by wire transfer or bank check qualifies the purchaser for a 2.5% deduction on their Buyers Premium.
